For more than a decade Calvin Grimm has been painting a body of work informed by his broad experiences with water and aquatic life.

The 1970's saw him as a crew member and educator aboard the "flagship of the environmental movement" - the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater. He was also a wilderness leader of Alaskan sea kayaking expeditions, and an explorer of the healthy coral ecosystem of the Belize and Yucatan coasts.

Grimm's hands-on life has provided an honest, accountable approach to all of his abstract renditions of the mysteries of our "water planet".
