Aquatic
For more than
a decade Calvin Grimm has been painting a body of work informed
by his broad experiences with water and aquatic life.
The 1970's saw
him as a crew member and educator aboard the "flagship of the
environmental movement" - the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater.
He was also a wilderness leader of Alaskan sea kayaking expeditions,
and an explorer of the healthy coral ecosystem of the Belize and
Yucatan coasts.
Grimm's hands-on life has provided an honest, accountable
approach to all of his abstract renditions of the mysteries of our
"water planet".
"Having seen and felt so many extraordinary
combinations of natural forms and energies I am free to paint from
a surreal perspective, affirming collective awareness and primal
symbols."
